When Voting In-Person
A voter will be asked to present one of the following approved photo IDs when they vote:
SC Driver’s License
SC DMV ID card (including concealed weapons permit)
SC Voter Registration card with photo
Federal Military ID (including all DOD photos IDs and Veteran Affairs benefits cards)
U.S. passport (including U.S. passport ID card)
NOTE: If a voter forgets a photo ID or does not have one, they may still be able to vote!
If a voter forgets their ID, they may vote a provisional ballot that will count if they show their photo ID to the county voter registration and elections office prior to certification of the election.
If a voter has a reasonable impediment to obtaining a photo ID, they may bring their non-photo voter registration card to the polling place and vote a provisional ballot accompanied by an affidavit stating they have a reasonable impediment to obtaining photo ID. When returning an absentee ballot in person, photo ID is also required.
